We just recently bought a 1986 Coachmen Travelmaster Palm Beach in excellent condition and have enjoyed it camping now three times, however the main batteries used in the living space do not seem to be recharging when the landline is connected:
Is this a regulator problem?
Where would it be located?
Should the truck engine also charge the living space batteries when running?
Is there a total electrical schematic available for troubleshooting?
I have the original owners manual, but it is not very specific - is there a more extensive manual available?
Look at the cables from your main battery, the positive one. It should go to a solenoid with three wires on iy. One of thos wires will go to the other battery. The solenoid goes bad and won't divert the power to the other battery. It is a cheap fix, $10-$15 bucks.
