Re: Info Wanted: Jayco Seneca by Karen Bragg
Post New Message We have a 2007 Seneca.
Who ever designed it must not have ever used it. The kitchen drawers next to the frige can't be pulled straight out - the faces on the drawers are too wide, so you have to pull the drawer to the side and slide it open against the wall.
The stove cover folds up - and blocks the light from the microwave above. The surface light shines behind the stove cover.
The door (which only opens half way) tie back is attached only to the skin of the door. With very little use, it appears that it will pull out and take some of the door skin with it. We hold the door open with a bungie cord from the door frame to the cab door step.
We have fought water leaks from the start. The worst one is in the hose to the kitchen faucet. It rubs against the frame of the kitchen slide which causes a hole in it. My husband has repaired it and tried to re route it but it was even worse this last trip and ran water out of the slide whenever the pump was on. Not fun.
It is impossible to see to the right when you are angled at all to the left, like at a rest area or an intersection that is not 90 degrees.
The cushion you add to the ones on the dinette to make it into a bed is not the same thickness as the ones on the dinette - makeing a very uneven bed. So far, my 5 year old grandson does not complain.
Bugs were able to get into the rear camera housing, messing up the window and totally blocking the view. Hubby had to find where the bugs were getting in and stuff it with foam rubber.
The shades on the window are the pitts. They are not fabric, more like cardboard. If anything touches the cardboard it leaves a dent, which then interferes with the way the blinds fold up. We are going to replace all of them.
The windows that slide up to open are held up by little plastic catches on each side of the window. You must pinch both plastic catches at the same time to close the window. Some of them are a little hard to get to for this 2 handed operation, and heaven forgid if the little plastic catches ever break.
Love the DuraMax engine. Just got back from a 10 day trip pulling a horse trailer 3000 miles in Idaho, Utah and New Mexico. Engine and transmission remained cool inspite of 100 degree weather and 6% hills.
I love the space with the 3 slides, although they creak and grown when you pull them in. I just keep my fingers crossed that they will come in.
I am often on the road alone in this coach, and dependability is important to me. We only have 1300 miles on it, and except for what I listed above, I do like the coach. But, I'll never buy another Jayco.
