Seek Toyota 4x4 Sunrader bisnan 6-9-08
Like everyone else, I'm looking for a Toyota 4x4 Sunrader or any self-contained manual transmission Toyota RV that is 18 feet or shorter. If it is not a 4x4, would expect that all recalls (axle, head gasket) had been updated. Would prefer not more than a couple of states away from Arizona. Price range up to $8500.

You are limiting yourself a whole lot in your search for a Sunrader. There were less than 30 factory built 4X4's and those have been selling in the $18-20K range as of late. The head gasket recall only applies to the V6 and there were few, if any, of those in 18'ers with 5 speeds even built. If one existed it would bring $12-15K at a minimum in todays market.
That leaves you with 1985-1988 22RE's, most of which were automatics and pre-1985 22R's of which some were 4 speeds.., The 17' is 1978-79 only as far as I know and they were all 4 speeds and 20R motors, Very difficult to smog, but easy on fuel and were the only Sunrader with a 26 gallon fuel tank.

I have a 78 17'er I am restoring and a restored and updated 87 21'er for sale.

Good luck in your search, but don't be disappointed if you can't find what you want.
