|Toyota Coachmen mileage||Lance Andrus||5-15-08|
|I have a 1986 Toyota chassis Coachmen RV. This particular model has the 2.4L 4 cylinder under the hood. My issue is that it only gets 11 mpg. Anyone have a good idea how to increase the mileage on this beast. I've done the replace the plugs and wire bit, but at 3.75/gallon, I need to really increase that mileage.|

I had a 22 4RE (4 cylinder- 1986 and got 18 miles per gallon. Just noticed yr posting so am responding. One thing you may check is the air filter cause if it is real dirty it will have a negative impact on your gas mileage.
There used to be a website where you could go to and where they listed mini motorhomes on Toyota chassis exclusively. I used to visit that site from time to time but when my computer crashed I lost the site. If you happen to know where it can be found I would appreciate a reply.
Thanks and I hope you locate the culprit that is hindering you to get decent gas mileage. These motorhomes have been noted to give excellent mileage.

|Hi Toy lover,|
I have a '84 Coachman with a 22r engine and a 4 sp. I just drove it from Tampa to Houston and got around 17mpg. I kept it at 55mph. I am used to speeding in my Mercedes, but as I grow older I am beginning to enjoy the relaxing speed of 55mph.
Don't know how to help you with your milage except to say, avoid hills and headwinds!
