Storm windows Rain 9-29-98
Anyone have any good ideas for some inexpensive storm windows to do myself. We just camp a few times when I would like storms. The plastic hair dryer stuff didn't work at all. Doesn't stay stuck. Was thinking about thin plexiglass maybe. Any ideas appreciated.

We used a product called "Warm Windows", found at stores carrying sewing products. We cut to size and used velcro to attach to window frames. It is 4 layers of insulating material. Works great.

Hi, Joan! Nope, never did hear of that product. I'll have to check it out when I get to a larger city than where I live. Really appreciate you posting to me, and it's a wonder you ever found me way over here. Rain

We're working on the same issue now. A couple of years ago I made plexiglas inserts for my windows and secured them with glazing putty. It worked pretty well, but occasionally pulled away from the window casing. The following year I secured the plexiblas inserts with silicone caulk thinking it would pull out easily at the end of the season. It held very well through the season **AND** after. Getting the silicone out was a bear of a job. Right now we're looking for thermalpane windows as a retrofit. The hunt is proving to be very tough. Have you seen anything on that subject?

I framed the inside of my window with 1/2inch wooden strips. they reset 1/4inch, so that the 1/4plexiglass was flush with the frame of the house. Then attach the plexiglass with a removable insert.
