We are removing the flooring (rotted) from the floor of a GMC 4903. At the back, where the bathroom is, there is sheet metal as opposed to wood. Was this for the bathroom, or was it to prevent heat from the tires, or what? Should I replace with sheet metal, or will 3/4 inch ply be alright?
My guess is that the metal was used specifically for the bathroom. The bathrooms were more weighty with all the metal used, and the flooring itself sits above the rear wheels, not the engine.
I would think plywood would be acceptable to replace with, depending on what you are going to be putting on top of it.
