I have been experiencing an intermittent starting problem with my 92 GMC Jimmy 4.3 liter Vortec. Sometimes it will just crank and crank and refuse to start. Later it will start just fine. Here's what I have examined, please offer any suggestions.
I have pressed the schrader valve at the fuel rail to see if there is fuel pressure which there is. I have removed the wire from the coil. When the engine won't start, there is no arcing spark visible. When the engine will start, there is an arcing spark visible.
I have tested the wires going to the coil, and only 1 of the 4 is hot whether the key is in the 'on' position or the 'crank' position. All the other wires are never hot.
