I am casually looking for a future bus conversion project. The 3751 Silversides catch my eye. Can anybody provide any insight about these vehicles? How suited are they for conversions?
These coaches were some of the first converted coaches. Greyhound retired close to 2000 over the years and they were well suited to conversion because of there flat floors. The bodies and frames are solid aluminum they don't rust. They are very simple coaches the trick is to find one in nice shape. The downside is manual steering, manual transmision, and they are not fast off the line. If you don't care about those things they are a solid coach. I have owned five and now run one and share a parts bus. Mine smells like kids and dogs and occasionally farts.
I have recently started up a silversides specific forum, you should check it out. it is free to use and join. http://silversides.suddenlaunch3.com/index.cgi
