Am looking for a delco relay #7729602 Anti-theft relay for 1977 vette
Re: DELCO REMY RELAY Ian Broadbent 4-17-04
I don't know if the 797 is the correct type I am looking for. Can I pick your brains please, (or anyone elses) and hopefully get an answer to my problem.

I have a 1991/2 Sportscoach with 12v electrics.... I am trying to find a replacement for the main isolating relay to the electrics... (mine burnt out last autmmn in Germany when we had a short and fire from the alternator circuit. It was "bridged" out to get me home to the UK by a local German garage,.... unfortunately I didn't check at the time and in the confusion the German garage kept the old unit, and now I don't know which to buy to replace it properly.

It's a continously rated normally open can-type relay (I presume Delco because the rest of the electrics-alternator etc; are mainly Delco) the can being about an inch and a half to 2 inches in diameter and about two and a half to 3 inches long. Coil is 12 volt. Current rating must be quite heavy coz' I've got a 120amp/hr alternator and 2 100amp/hr 12 volt batteries on the chassis. It is the main coil which is energised when you switch on the ignition, and which then energises all the vehicle electrical circuit-breakers,etc.

Does this sound like the ones you have?

If not is there any chance that someone else knows what was fitted to a 1991 Sportscoach CrosscountryIV-RD 'pusher' (rear Cummins) running on a Spartan chassis?

I have emailed to Coachmen previously (I understood they had taken over the Sportcoach brand) but they didn't respond or answer.
Any hints/advice are welcome as I am a bit nervous about running without the proper factory specified electrics in place.

Thanks,
Ian Broadbent (UK)
