I RECENTLY PURCHASED A CHAMPION BUS THAT I WANT TO CONVERT TO A MOTORHOME. I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO LOCATE INFORMATION ON WHAT I HAVE, I CONTACTED CHAMPION THE BUS MANUFACTURER BUT THEY WEREN'T ABLE TO GIVE ME MUCH INFORMATION. WHAT I DID GET IS THE BUS IS BUILT ON A CHEVY P6 CHASSIS (CAN'T FIND ANYTHING ABOUT THIS CHASSIS) THE ENGINE IS A CHEVY 427 TALL BLOCK (WOULD LIKE TO FIND OUT WHAT HORSEPOWER ETC..) THE TRANSMISSION IS AN ALLISON 545 AUTOMATIC. IF ANYBODY COULD STEER ME IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION ON WHERE TO LOOK FOR ANY INFORMATION ON THIS STYLE OF BUS I WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATE IT. THANKS BILL
The GM folks have a good chasis book on diagnosing handeling and other problems for the chevvy "P"arcel truck type chasis .
Used to be you could call 800 FOR CHEVY and the motorhome book was free.
There are aftermarket co. that sell the engine or chasis individual books , with wiring diagrams ect.
Not cheap but you will need them.
HP and all that are pretty meaningless , fuel consumption is the big deal on any big block. Expect 6 mpg when running , standard Hot Rod techniques can increase the speed up some hills at great cost in fuel milage.
You only get what you pay for and HP costs fuel.
The local chevy truck dealer should be able to advise where to purchase a set of books.
