I'm thinking of fixing a hitch onto a recently purchased 1975 GM 4108. Has anyone accomplished this? Also, I'm planning on towing a 27 foot sailboat and wondering if it's possible being the overall length of bus and boat.
Rob,
The best hitch I've seen on a GMC V-drive such as your 4108 is Daris Bothiller's 4106. There is a good picture of it at

Click on "Exterior" then "Receiver Hitch.
Note that he is pulling from the suspension which is steel. Most GMCs are rigged to pull from the engine cradle which also telescopes forward to the aft bulkhead. Not a good idea. Those two aluminum channels tend to break and if you replace them with steel then the bulkhead may eventually give away.
I've been towing a toyota 4x4 with a 16' bass tracker behind our bus for four years, bout 65000mi been looked at a lot but never stopped. most states total lenght is 75'
