1979 MC5C Saudi Conversion Corey from NH 11-11-04
I just picked up my incredible 79 MC5C Saudi bus and couldn't be more excited. My wife thinks I'm nuts that a bus makes me happier than when I picke dup my new Vette last year. I'm currently stripping out all the massive A/C units from the bus which should lighten it up a bit. Anyone know if the windows (doubles) are the same as a MC8 or 9? I need to replace a set that are fogged. Are all MCs glass or are some plastic? Also, I noticed the tinting varies among different sections, anyone know if the Saudi busses had special titing? Makes sense in the desert I guess.

Congragulations on your new rig.

It's so much more than a simple corvette.

How about posting pictures?

Hey Corey, from the things I have been reading the tri level roof on the MC5C sounded like the bus I would like to find.

Please tell me how you got one from another country. I have not seen one for sale here.

Thanks

Pete

OPPS. I was wrong again. Twice this century isn't bad I guess..lol. Greyhound had a contract to set up service in Saudi Arabia with 187 buses. Of these 40 were two door MC5-C's with double roof's. When the contract was over they brought the buses back to the US and sold them. If I find more I will post. Sorry for the mis-information in my last post. I always wanted an MC5-C. But, I have a B and love it. Had a chance to buy a C at auction just a few months ago. It was an x Airforce bus. Great buy and in wonderful condition. Oh well, life goes on.
Re: 1979 MC5C Saudi Conversion Brian 5-2-06
Pete, they are calling these buses Saudi buses but they aren't from Saudi. The Saudi government contracted for a fleet of buses then backed out of the deal. So, the buses were dubbed "Saudi buses" they have a double roof to keep the heat down from the hot sun. Some if not all had a second entrance door just in front of the right rear wheels. They never made it to Saudi and were sold in the us market to whomever wanted to buy them. They are forsale from time to time from various sellers. Hope this helps.
Re: 1979 MC5C Saudi Conversion Bob 9-5-06
I just got one of those busses yesterday. The one I got is a MC5C with only one entrance door in the customary place. It has the double roof and it has been converted to a
RV. Excellent professional conversion. Drives like a dream. I really like the 35' length. It had a new 6V92 engine put in it when it was converted in 2000. Anybody know how many of these were made with one door? Two doors? I'd be glad to send anyone some photos of it if you're curious. Wonder what this thing is worth. I got it in a real estate deal, but I really like it.
