I just bought a '71 Airstream Sovereign. I am looking for any and all advice on how to polish it. What to use. I am looking for a front couch, awning, front window cover, upper running light, air conditioning shroud,fan/vent cover, round light cover, and any direction as where to shop on line for how too's,etc.
Thank you.
If the trailer has a finish that apprear white in places, it probably needs to be repainted. Airstreams have a clear coat finish.
When the finish on my 75 Airstream was in good shape I used ShowCar Wax on it all the time. That is the brand name and it is easy to put on and take off. Works well. I currently use it on my AVION.
You strip all the faded clearcoat with Removall ( try www.vintagetrailersupply.com) its user friendly and won't hurt you. Then you polish to the extent you want it to shine with any good metla polish. If you are looking for a mirror shine you will have to use a coarse polish first and work down to a finer one. Many folks use Nuvite Polishes, but #7 Compunding polish and fine polish will work well for you also.
