We've just tried to fill our water holding tanks on a 1972 airstream for the first time since we purchased it a number of years ago. The water comes right back out onto the ground. I can see a piece of rubber hose and about a 1/4 inch length of small metal pipe underneath the tank. Should one of these be capped to keep water in the tank or could the problem be elsewhere?

You need to close the drain valve inside the coach. Usually next to the water pump.
