Potential airstream buyer Nick Kaplan 4-5-07
I simply want to know, why airstreams?

What about them makes them appealing to you?

I am an over 50 female, but here is my opinion. I wanted to feel safe when my large old dog and I camp. I have restored it to the 1968 "Summer of Love" theme because I was raised in the 1960's in the SF Bay and I completely missed the sex, drugs and rock and roll era - which has been really fun. It is easy to tow, great to cook in - with my own stuff, has a shower/bathtub, running water and a 39 year old refridgerator that still makes ICE! There are no dirty hotel rooms when traveling and if you get tired, you just stop and rest comfortably. My bed is made with down, a featherbed, and decadent linens. It is a piece of Americana and completely functional.

I am a 62 year old male and I couldn't agree more with Mary Ann. I have a 1975 Excella 500, 31 feet long with a blue stripe all the way around. I put in tongue & groove hardwood floors that feels good on my bare feet and refurbished it as much as I could before I moved in. All the interior was plain white vinyl, but being an artist at heart I saw it as just a lot of blank canvas. Armed with oil paints I went to work and it is now covered in tropical scenes and suits me perfectly. Many RV parks will not allow any coaches over 10 years old, but when you tell them its an Airstream, they roll out the welcome mat. I keep the exterior polished to a mirror finish and I am currently living in it in Baja California on the beach. I can't imagine living anywhere better than in my Airstream - Its Mama's womb! Roll on...
