1961 Silverstream Empress 28 ft...Value?? Michael Breazeale 9-26-03  
Howdy,
Just recently I was fortunate enough to find and to buy a 1960-1961 Silverstream Empress (28ft) in pretty near excellent condition. It had been sitting in a shed by a large lake here in my neck of the woods for many years...and I was able to purchase it when the owner died. The title shows it to be a 1960 model..but I have found a stamped number 61 on the plate near the door along with the serial number,etc.
The body is in excellent condition..maybe 3 tiny rock dings in it overall (which I will soon fix with my new "ding king" ) This particular model has the old deco tail lights (3 total) which look like the tail lights on an old oldsmobile from that era. The interior still has the original flooring...no bad spots.cabinets are made of metal connected to the body by rivets with wooden doors. It has two doors...front living area...center kitchen...then bedroom and lastly rear bath with toilet onone side and shower on the other. The second door appears to be an emergency exit. This trailer also came with a coleman roof air. The stove is natural gas as are two lights in the trailer...there was no built in fridge...but I have put a small apartment sized one in the spot where it is suppose to go.
I am just wondering at the value of the trailer. I had the drive train checked and it pulls like a feather on it's two inch ball recepticle. It does need a polish job...but that's it. It is in incredible condition for its age.
Would appreciate someone giving me an idea on it's worth...the inside of this trailer makes you think of being in the fusealage of an airplane. This model also has the multi-layer aluminum joints at the front.

I had a 74 34' for many years. Pulled it to Alaska twice from NY. Never had any problems and always had it serviced off exit 12 of the Northway which I belive it's called Northway RV. You can go into google and find out more information and parts are still available. I owned my unit for 15 years and replaced the brakes, heater, and the power lift. I sold it 8 years ago for $4,000. It's still in Virginia at Indian Acres Camp Ground which has one other Silverstreak. Now and then Ebay has one or two for sale. If your unit is as good as you say I'd ask for $3,000 and up. To buy a Airstream which is like it new would cost you at least $40,000. Also their is a place I belive in AZ that does ground up restorations. Hope this helps.

Hello, Mike. I have a 1964 Silverstream Travel Trailer that has been in my family for over three decades. It is in my backyard right now. It needs work, but any information that you have on this specific kind of trailer would be nice. Thank you ahead of time for any information that you can share.
