I have a 1990 VW Jetta. The wipers, fan and horn will suddenly stop working and sometimes a few minutes later or a few days or even a week later will just as suddenly start working again. The loss of power seldom lasts more than a day or two, and when it starts to work again it will sometimes work for months. Even the VW mechanic does not know what causes this. Certainly not safe when it is raining and the wipers quit working. Fuses have been replaced and needless to say it wasn't the problem. Mechanic is now ordering a relay. Will that help?

Items I've heard to check on VW Eurovans for strange electrical problems: –Ignition Switches; they wear out. –Relays-various –Electric Door Switches/Locks(sometimes short-out or have bad connectors.
