Look for rust on floor, ie under any carpet, rubber mats, flooring. Look for rust on the front of the bus, at lower edge of windshield, and down by bumper. Tap, nicely, w your fingernail for a nice solid metal sound, if it thuds, could be alot of bondo. Look for rust on back corners, and at the battery box tray.
Look online to get an approx value, depends on what work was done, ask for proof of work.
If you know of a trusty mechanic, get rebuilt engine, otherwise look for one that is already rebuilt, w receipts, by reputable shop.
Have a shop check brakes, trans, engine, ball joints, axles, etc.
Enjoy, they are alot of fun!
I am going to look at a 1971 VW tomorrow and I called earlier to get comments from the present owner about the car's condiditon. He said basically it is in good condition, but it wobbles down the road. That was his comment. Can anybody tell me what could be wrong?
