Dear Readers, Please could anyone help me? I have fallen in LOVE with the Westfalia campervans!!. I am going to France to help my dad build his house and need a campervan to live in. A friend showed me his westfalia.Its love at first sight!!, but i cant find one that i can afford. The van would be very well looked after and loved with a womans touch.I Need a diesel 1980s ish and obviously able to travel 800+ miles AND GOT TO BE WESTFALIA!! There's a lot more diesels in Europe than here. I have one, but they were only imported the the US in '82 and '83. And these aren't turbo dlesels, only 48 HP. I think they made diesels for all years of vanagon (transporter) in europe. Also, there's the Joker with a fixed high fiberglass top, rather than just the pop top available in America. As well, there's other brands of conversions besides Westfalia. My friend in France has a vanagon camper with a shower, that the stove folds away for more space, etc. Very cool and NOT Westfalia. My advice, wait until you get to France to buy a camper. But don't expect to bring it back here, lots of DOT problems for importation.
