2003 or later westfalia? Gustavo 5-2-03
I was informed that VW is changing the body style for its eurovan and that the westfalia pop-top camper will no longer be available. the source of this was a sales person at a california dealer trying to sell me their last westfalia. what's the truth?
Re: 2003 or later westfalia? Noel 5-28-03
You heard right. 2003 is the last year of the Type 4 eurovan. VW will soon start production of the T5 to be sold in Europe. The T5 will also be the base for the New Mircobus.

Mecedes-Benz has bought Westfalia so it's doubtful that Westfalia will continue to convert VW. Look for a Westy verion of the Sprinter van made by MB and sold under the the frightliner logo in the US, maybe in the next few years.

I just asked a VW sales guy today whether the T5 eurovan would come to the US market or not. He didn't know.

So we're in the same boat. I plan to buy a 2003 weekender away. The new mircobus is gonna be $$$. The Sprinter conversion isn't here yet. The T5 eurovan is years away if ever.

Good luck

Westfalia stopped converting Eurovans in 1993. Since then, including the 2003, conversions have been done by Winnebago.

There probably will not be a T5 conversion for at least a couple of years so if you can get a T4 EVC you should - there are not many left.
