Being a Campground Host in the Yankee Boy Basin Area of the San Juan Mts is like being in the most beautiful mountains in Colorado. Yankee Boy Regional Conservation Association cares for this unique area with Camp Hosts and Alpine Hosts, in cooperation with the local US Forest Service and the Ouray County Commissioners. It is the access valley for Mt Sneffles, one of the 14,000 ft peaks.
The wildflowers are just beautiful. Jeeping is very popular, starting in Ouray CO and with jeep roads in all directions. Our Campground Hosts just love coming back and having those great views.
The town of Ouray is the start of all this great scenery. It is just 2 miles to the campgrounds and another 5 miles up to Yankee Boy Basin. Ouray has a huge natural hot springs outdoor pool and many hiking trails in the area. It is well known as a tourist town summer and winter.
