Dometic AC Compressor Kenneth Harp 2-22-08
I am in need of a compressor for my Dometic 13500 BTU roof mount AC Unit.
Can any one tell me where I might find one?
Re: Dometic AC Compressor rich. 2-23-08
Kenneth;
are you sure it's failed
capacitors will fail and the compressor wont run,
as for replacing it-if compressor had spread metal filings thru system more labor on the roof of your rv and possible damage to your rv----it would be much cheaper to replace with new unit---warrenty and all
rich in va.
Re: Dometic AC Compressor Kenneth Harp 2-24-08
I have checked the capacitors and they all check out OK -- I also checked the compressor by disconnecting the wires from the COMMON, START and RUN terminals and then with an ohm meter I have continuity between any of the terminals (so it seems not to be the compressor) - It has me baffled. -- Any thoughts on this?

As long as the btu's and electrical are the same you can use almost any compressor. Go for a hermetic. you just have to do a little re-piping. Johnstone or US Airconditioning might help you. Don't forget welds have to withstand 400psi and no air can mix with freon. and don't weld with freon in lines! good luck!
