Ford F-150 Electrical Problem? Brandon 1-31-08
I have an 03 F-150 that when I turn the ignition off and take out the key the check engine light stays on the odometer has a dashed line and the ABS light stays on. I have changed out the ignition switch and that did not solve the problem. Any ideas?

Yes; This is typical of something like an aftermarket gauge or radio using a wire that isn't supposed to be used for powering the memory. All three of these things are related thru a common fuse under that dash, so there is something shorting them to power.

Start with anything in the cab that is aftermarket and electrical and work your way back to the under dash fuse box. Your owner's manual will show you what fuse is related to what circuit, so you can figure out the common point and pull the fuse to see if that changes anything and that will tell you if the short is before or after the fuse.

Hope that helps!

Mine is doing the same thing. What did you find out?
