I have a 1988 ford ranger, 2.9l. I have corrected my cylinder 6 misfire code with a good tune up. The truck is still running very fuel rich, When you pull the vacuum line off of the pressure regulator, i would assume, that you are not suppose to smell fuel, because of it being just a vacuum line? I would guess I have a bad pressure regulator!
I am having similar problems, if you find out anything please get back to me... 1988 Ford Ranger 2.9 Engine. Truck runs fine until you get between 25 and 35 and then it bogs down. If you floor it, it goes, but that is hard to do with the police behind you while you are trying to maintain a steady speed. Gas gauge does not work. I am told that there is a low pressure pump in the gas tank. Could this be the problem, or the main fuel pump Any suggestions would be a great help. I reset the inertia switch breaker under the carpet, No Luck. HELPPPPPP... Thanks GMRockin@hotmail.com
You are absolutely correct. When the engine is cooler, you'll probably find liquid gasoline in the vacuum line, but this is an indicator that the diaphragm inside the fuel pressure regulator has started to leak and the regulator needs to be replaced.
I HAVE A 1988 FORD RANGER THAT I AM RESTORING. IT HAS A 2.9 LITER ENGINE. I HAVE REPLACED EVERYTHING FROM THE FUEL PUMP TP THE INJECTERS AND THE TRUCK STILLS FLOODS OUT AT TIMES. RUNS GREAT UNTIL IT ALL OF A SUDDEN WILL START FLOODING. I HAVE TO BACK OFF AND GIVE IT A FEW SECONDS TO CORRECT ITSELF. HELP!! I HAVE RUN OUT OF IDEAS. THANKS !!
HEY GUYS! I HAVE A 1997 FORD RANGER AND I WENT 2 AUTOZONE THEY PULL A CODE 0171 AND I THOUGHT IT WAS A 02 SINCERE BUT I PULLED THE MASS AIR FLOW AND IT DIDNT WANT TO RUN. IT WAS GOIN UP AND DOWN AND I BOUGHT SOME MASS AIR FLOW SPAY AND THOUGHT THAT WOULD CLEAN THE DRY OUT SO WAT IMA SAY I DONT KNW WETHERT IT THE 02 SINCER R THE MASS AIR FLOW SO WAT DO YOU THINK I WOULD LIKE IF SOMEONE CAN EMAIL ME BACK ASAP..
