I have a 1997 jeep wrangler with auto trans 4.0 engine i got a error code of p0740 tcc ckt malfunction my trans will not engage in any gear what is this solenoid is internal or outside the trans please need help anyone got to get it back on road shops dont want to tell me anything they just want to hammer me
Re: tcc solenoid Phil Feinstein 1-7-08
The TCC solinoid is inside the valve body, which is located inside the pan on the bottom of the transmission. It controls the torque converter lock up and gives you overdrive, so it would not be responsible for no forward gears at all (Do you have reverse?).

Depending on what you find in the trans pan, it sounds like you're going to have to rebuild this transmission anyway so whether the TCC solinoid has failed or not is really the least of you problems.

Hope that helps!
