I have a 30 year old tery taurus. The furnace works OK its the type you light with a gas wand through the sight glass.
Question, the pilot light looks weak, is blown about by the slightest draught and occaisionaly goes out. Is it worth me stripping & cleaning, it seems remove thermocouple, gas supply pipe 2 nuts hold the burner into furnace? pull out and clean! or as to its age, should i leave well enough allone? Is there any adgustment to increase supply to pilot light?
Hi, if this is a model 900 Duo Therm don't bother trying anything with it. This is an unsafe dangerous model and should be junked! I am very serious. The burner chambers develop holes and will cause carbon monoxide poisoning. Sorry but dump it!
I have a duo therm model #718072-001 it was produced in the early 1970's. I had it blow out the pilot light and I relit it, but when I went to work. My wife called me and said that the CO2 detecter was going off. I had a repair man come and take a look at it. He stated to me that it needed to be replaced @ a cost of $2150.00. Can I find a replacement any cheaper and if I find another newer one with a pvc exhaust pipe how would that work on an old flue type. Thanks for all of your help. Getting cold in the show-me state.
