Torn Awning Chris 6-4-07
My awning just got torn from the camper due to high winds. Can I just buy replacement fabric to repair this? And how does it attach back to the camper when you replace it??

Thanks

Do you have comprehensive insurance on your motorhome? Maybe let insurance company handle for you.

If insurance will not cover your damage or you don't have any. You might be able to replace only fabric, by contacting the manufacturer of awning. Mine slides into a molding strip on the camper at top. Also slides into the spring loaded rewind cylinder. This will need to be disassembled to replace. Be very careful since it is spring loaded injury can result from releasing the pressure. I would get a repair manual or have a pro do it. It may save you time, money(in the long run), and unnecessary injury. If your camping now with it, duct tape goes a long way. There are a number of items you can purchase to help prevent wind damage to awning. such as def lapping clips or straps, ties down, etc, but nothing will work better than butting it up when impending storms are approaching.
