Just got my rear tires balanced on my Bounder, Chevy P-30 chassis. The tire mounters didn't balance the tires stating that the rear was unnecessary to balance. What Gives??

You had fruitcakes for tire mounters,,or you bought them to close to 5 PM.

I would assume they're dual wheels?balancing each tire separately often causes more problems once you mate them up again.I'm not familar with a system that can balance a dual wheel application at the same time.Balancing each separetly is negated once you pair them up again.
I've been in the tire manufacturing business for 25 years,I agree with your tire mounters opinion.

There are some tire people that ascribe to that philosophy but in truth the problem is that they don't have the equipment to balance big tires except the front one when mounted. For under $200 at Camping World you can put a set of centramatic balancers on your RV and that will take care of the duals permanently. The cheap fix. Break down the tires and put 6 golf balls in each tire before remounting and inflating! They will self balance as soon as you get rolling. The six golf balls is for 22.5" or 24.5" wheels. Takes fewer on smaller wheels.
