Re: 12 ft slide on keeps moving to rear by Jmaxwell
Post New Message My sunline slide on 12ft never stays in place in bed.I have 4 chain mount turnbuckles a 8 foot bed with rubber mat and every trip out the camper is moving to rear 2 or 3 inches.this unit has a 4 foot 6 inch overhang in the rear and seems to be built to heavy in the rear.I load all heavy items towards front but that doesnt help.
If the forward chains are mounted in such a way that they pull fwd. on the camper, it can't possibly move back. Many years ago I had a 13' Open Road with the cog track loading system. I connected the front chains about 12" back on the camper from the front of the bed, and angled down at 45 degrees. The back pulled to the rear at the same angle. I pulled it in tight with the front ones and then "stressed it" with the back ones. Only time it ever moved was when I damned near wrecked it in a long slide going thru a flash flood at 65mph near Lake Havasu. Broke 2 turnbuckles.
