3 year old unit freezes up when run on high and doesn't cool well. Once it is turned off and defrosted it blows cold air until it freezes up again.

3 year old unit freezes up when run on high and doesn't cool well. Once it is turned off and defrosted it blows cold air until it freezes up again.

THERE ARE ONLY 2 THING THAT WILL CAUSE THE UNIT TO FREEZE UP. THE 1ST IS AIR FLOW ACCROSS THE EVAP COIL. CHECK YOUR AIR FILTERS TO MAKE CERTAN THAT THEY ARE CLEAN. 2ED IS THAT YOU HAVE LOST FREON AND THIS IS THE LAST STAGE BEFORE THE UNIT QUITES WORKING. THERE IS ONE OTHER ITEM BUT I FIGURE THAT THIS IS NOT THE CASE. IF YOU RUN THE AC WHEN IT IS COLD OUT SIDE THEY WILL FREEZE UP. I WOULD REMOVE THE AIR FILTERS AND TRY AND RUN THE AC TO SEE IF IT FREEZES UP. IF IT DOES YOU WILL HAVE TO HAVE A REPAIR MEN LOOK AT THE UNIT. HAROLD
