Recently got 1980 allegro 32'
and getting all the kinks worked out.
water heater pilot lites ok and then
proceeds to heat but not sure
how long it should run before
thermostat kicks it off. want to
make sure i dont need a new
thermostat/valve. just wondering approx
time it should take to heat up and then
shut itself off.

Depends on condition of heater and burner and outside temp....if water gets too hot the relief valve should open.

My 6 gal. takes about 35 to 45 minutes to bring ambient (say, 80F) water up to 130F it them cycles about 3 or 4 minutes every 30 minutes or so on a cool day.
