E350 front springs Jd 7-29-01
1983 E350 six-wheel chassis called E303 by Ford. Has 11,000 GVW with 3,850 Front and 7,400 Rear.
Right front spring has sagged to where the bottom two coils touch. I want to get a new pair, and what I see in catalogs is this E350 w/400-460; w/ or w/out a/c; Regular 277-5077 (.750 wire diameter) and Heavy Duty 277-5293 (.781 wire diameter). This is in a Perfect Circle spring catalog. The smaller spring has a capacity of 1,650# each and the larger spring has 1,820# each. But the description in the catalog is All (except Parcel Delivery and Super Van) to 9,550 GVW. There is no reference to the chassis having four wheels or six. I think there was no heavier spring than the 277-5293 and that's the part I need. Using a caliper, spring wire is clearly NOT .750" (3/4") but more like 13/16". Is the part I found the one I should use? God Bless, jd
