Can anybody give tips on changing air bag on the front of a 1988 Southwind?

Sure can.. Get a hole saw that will just go in the hole in the bottom A frame. cut the circular hole in the bottom of the bag, with long pliers, or tool of your choice, pull out the old bag. The new bags will fold around and you can push them up inside. Takes about 45 min. You're welcome. (this is probably one of the best kept secrets in the RV world). Grin.

Camping World has a replacement kit for about $80 that has the same instructions given previously. I did it on an 88 Chieftan this summer and it took a total of 2 hours for both front bags. I called the local GMC place and they wanted $129 EACH for replacement bags.

Learned the hard way. Raise the front to spread the coil. Cut the old one out with knive or saw blade. Twist the new bag to form a small cylinder and push into the small hole in A arm. Heating bag in hot water helps. Good luck.
