My old awning (14' A&E on '84 Holiday Rambler) is failing along the edge of the rail on the coach body. That edge is plain gray material different from the rest of the awning. Working with an upholsterer friend, I can replace that first roll or so formed by the gray material, but it's probably coming up on time to change the entire fabric part of the awning. Does anybody have a source for a good replacement awning, sized and ready to install in my existing hardware? God Bless, jd
I had the same problem on with my 1967 vintage motorhome. Since I wanted to keep the original awning color which was no longer available from A&E I had Tacoma Tent and Awning sew me on a new weatherstrip. Cost $50.00
If your awning's that much older than mine and still stays together, that's probably what I'll end up doing. Do you know what you specified, or the tent shop furnished, as the weather strip material? I'm considering a gray synthetic used for boat storage covers. Finding the right thread is another consideration. Some of the boat covers fall apart because the thread can't last the life of the fabric.
Thanks for the information!
