I HAVE AN OLD WINNI WITH A 2600 WATT ONAN AN IT HAS NO SPARK TO START I JUST BOUGHT THIS AN THE MAN DIDNT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT IT THANKS FOR ANY HELP
Somebody here might be able to help you but certainly not without an ONAN model number. Approximate age/year model would help too. Suggest you take the serial number and model number to your local ONAN distributor and buy a manual and parts list. Getting spark may be the least of your problems - if this genset wasn't used regularly, it's likley suffering from a gummed up fuel system. Hope this helps. God Bless, jd

On the old, flat twin Onan, the points are contained in a "box" located behind the carburetor. Remove the screws holding the forward-facing cover and you'll find the points inside. Most likely they have a coat of oxide on them which is preventing contact when they close. Run a piece of 400 Wet or Dry abrasive cloth between them to clean them up, follow that up by running a piece of clean, white paper through them.
