I have the above onboard generator for a small RV A/C on my ambulance here on an outlying base in Afghanistan. I asked the generator guy if it would be ok to wash it down due to the enormous amount of dirt and dust that accumulates on it and he said, "Sure, it shouldn't be a problem." Well, it was, because now it will turn over but won't stay running. It flashes twice, pause, then seven times. We don't have a manual on it and the Onan website is down. Anybidy have any ideas of what it may be or know what that particular fault code is? Thxs, John

Onan Emerald III 6.5NHEFA26100E Symptom: Will crank and run as long as start button is depressed. Remote harness is unplugged, has had new circuit board and voltage regulator installed. At this time the unit is in the coach, but am wondering if the unit will run if removed from the coach?

Check the RV.net forum lots of onan ret, techs hang over there. Sorry my old BGE Onan does not use codes. Good Luck Mike

The brushes wet and slip rings-and there is no contact.or water in the maintaining relay, look at a cummings web site---they own onan

I have an Onan 6.5 NHEFA26100E gas generator with same problem...runs only as long as I hold the start switch on unit to start position and shuts off when I release the switch.
