Palomino Power Converter? Jerry 6-27-06
I have a 1998 Palomino pop-up camper. The electrical system could be plugged into a 110 outlet but it had no battery power. Last yr I mounted a battery on the hitch for our trip to Yellowstone. I grounded the negative wire from the battery to the frame and plugged the positive wire from the battery to the Black wire on the 8 plugged bundle of wires coming from the camper, leading up to the hitch (then there is a connecting set of wires with only 4 plugs that hooks up to the car for signal lights only, no charge goes to the battery). Well, heater & fan and lights worked fine while in Yellowstone but when I tried to plug the camper into an outlet again only the outlets in the camper work and not the lights or heater/fan. Plus, now when I try to plug the battery up to the system, one of the four 15 amp fuses immediately burns out (snap!) and nothing works.

What have I done, that seems can not be undone? Is the converter shot or do I have a bad ground. I know very little about electrical systems so I've already exhausted my diagnostic skills.

Thanks for your help in advance.

Jerry
