We have a Dometic New Dimensions NDR1492, The freezer and icemaker work fine maintaining 22 degrees on gas or electric during all outside temperature conditions. The refer compartment however barely maintains 50 on gas when the outside temp is below 65 and won’t cool at all if the outside is above that. On electric it will maintain 40 if the ambient is below 65. Above 65 it will stay right at 50. We’ve researched all over the web and on many boards but no problems fit ours exactly. Additional info when we had our rig painted 2 years ago the painters stuffed newspapers behind the compartment door and did not remove them about six weeks after the paint job we started having problems, I went out to clean the flue and check the flame and discovered the newspaper. After removing the newspaper the fridge seemed to work OK but not for long. Poor performance on gas was the first symptoms then it started acting up on electric and has continued to deteriorate since that time. I suspect the control board but don’t want to replace it if it’s not necessary. We’ve checked the flue, the flame, and the propane regulator for the correct pressure and are at a loss as to what to do. We live fulltime in our bus and it’s 250 miles to the nearest repair shop.
Any suggestions would be great.
Thanks Russ and Earline
Have you tried shutting the Fridge/Freezer down, wait a day or two, and restart it again. This Might help. Start at setting number 3, don't try to rush it. I think you got a cold spot in the system. With what the newspaper problem caused. I don't think its a Circuit board problem, you usually will have freezing in the fridge part. Being a full timer myself, I've always had good luck with, leaving the fridge on Gas. It seems to mess with it switching back and forth all the time, causing these cold spots. As for helping to keep everything even cold in the fridge, I went to Radio Shack, and bought a 12 volt Computer Cooling fan, hooked it up to the fridge light for power, ground it to the fins in the back of the fridge, because if you ground it the the fridge light ground, it will go off when you close the door, leave it on 24/7, hardly uses any power, hang it from the lower right hand shelf, circulates the air, really helps.

They'll suggest you check your 120VAC element then wire direct to it. If you have a good element and good voltage the fridge'll cool to its max capability. If it does, control problem. If it doesn't, cooling system problem. Site provides more...
