Hello,
I recently bought a 1987 Winnebago Itasca Phasar and it starts fine and runs well but get hot after only a short time. approx. 10 min. the previous onwer says that it might be out of water but that the water is pressurized. how do you go about putting more water in one of these things? Any help here would be great.
thanks
That's what I think too but the past owner thinks that the unit is out of water and I am not sure how to top off the water in one of these motors. the past owner does not know how to either and said that to add water it has to be pressurized because the water in the camper area and through the engine is all related and under pressure. any help here would be great.
I'm not very familiar with your rig, but I can tell you that the only time coolant is under pressure is when it's hot.
Find the radiator and look for the top hose. If the cap isn't where the top hose meets the radiator, you should see a hose smaller than the top hose (about an inch across) that leads to a recovery tank. the radiator cap and fill will be at the remote tank.
In very rare instances, the radiator cap will be part of the thermostat housing. You'd find it by tracing the top hose back to where it meets the engine. It's also very rare to have a coolant heated cabin, so I won't be surprised if this is what you find.
