86 lesharo rv ran out of gas, small fire in engine, wont start. Tracy 3-23-06
My sons 1986 lesharo rv (renault engine) 4 cyl. automatic, ran out of gas, there was a small fire, it was put out immediately, rv was refueled, still it wont start. I know nothing about these kind of things, my husband said a valve is stuck open,a fuel injector valve I think,we have no idea what to do to get it running again.PLEASE HELP!I'll be attempting to fix this myself so if you have any idea please explain in detail in as simple terms as possible. thanks

First off, *ANY* fire will do damage, no matter how short lived. I've seen people try to torch seized bolts under the hood and burn thru wiring without causing a noticable fire, so if you saw flames, you've got some damage.

Start off by cleaning up under the hood. make sure you have visually inspected every inch of the engine and fixed any burnt or broken wiring. Replace any tune-up parts (plugs, wires, cap, rotor, etc.) that look questionable.

Hope that helps!
