|JETTA 2L OIL PRESSURE LOW||RONALD||2-27-03|
|I'm driving a VW JETTA IV 2L and I was recently involved in an accident where I hit the pavement and oil sump had to be replaced.|
After driving 30-40km I get a singnal to stop the motor due to low oil pressure. I took the car to the vw service centre, they said the problem was the pressure sender and they've fixed it.
After driving onother 30 to 40Km from the service centre the flicker came on again.
This morning I drove the car back to the service centre 30-40KM and there warning light did come up.
What could be wrong, why do I have to drive 40km's before the light flickers.
I would appreciate any ideas.

|HI i have an 87 fox essentially our vehicles engines are same. i have a 1.8L typically these engines wear out main crank bearings the tolorances become greater and oil cannot sufficiently fill the void between the breaings and the crank. Your vehicle when cold has a higher pressure because the oil is cold and has a lower vicosity. upon warming up (30-40km) oil viscosity increases and the engine is loose. The men at the shop of course fix the more probable cause of failure the - sensors. However to fix the problem have your main bearings changed. they should cost less then 60$ and less then 100$ for labour I am canadian so prices will vary of course. good luck|
