I had a heater problem in my 1990 Tioga, where the heater fan would come on but the heater would never ignite. After many phone calls to local mechanics, and hours spent with my voltage meter, the problem was solved by installing a new circuit board. I do know the "clicking" is the ignitor attempting to ignite the gas. If it's trying to ignite, your electrical may be ok? I would check to make sure gas is getting to the ignitor, when researching my problem I was told sometimes the lines get clogged, or the solenoid that turns the gas on at the burner (which is electronically controlled) may be the culprit. Most likely there is also a heat sensor mechanism that turns the solenoid off if the burner does not lite. Good luck.

I'm guessing you mean the vehicle heater and not the furnace. Anyway probably what you are hearing is the heater relay, so if it is, either your blower is not working or the relay is bad. Locate the source of the click, and probably you can start to find your problem.
