|Wasnt sure whether this should go under electrical or mechanical. We recently purchased a 1989 Coachmen Royal motor home (i've had pull behinds, but this is my first motorhome). 460 Ford motor, John Deere chassis. We started having issues when we would start losing power while driving and the motor would die (day or night). Alternator tested bad, so replaced it and the external regulator. Battery tested good.
I was on a deadline so didnt have the auto parts store test the electrical after replacing the parts.
Drove around all day with no issues, however last night, we went to leave and after turning the headlights on, I noticed the dash meter was dropping down and eventually the motor died (luckily still at home).
Before it died, I put my meter on and was only showing around 9.8V across the terminals.
I would normally test the cables but due to the start placement, thats not possible. I'm also dubious of the battery disconnect, as I've never dealt with these before.
Our system is a nuvatec with separate coach and chassis.
All that being said, wondering if I should just replace all the cables or is there a chance the disconnect is limiting the alternator and how would I check that?
