Heat Stuck and 4WD Out Jeff 2-10-03
When taking my 99 Ford F250 Diesel out of 4WD one day I heard a click, click, click, click, clunk from the right front. Since then the heater has been stuck in the defrost postion and the auto hubs will not ingage. Sounds like a vacuum problem but can not seem to figure it out.

Yeah i'd guess vacuum also i'd check the front axle and transfer case area. i had a similair problem with a s-10 a stick came up and knock a vacuum line off of the transfer case i spent days looking for the problem finally i noticed the line hanging a little low i plugged it in and all was good. hopefully you'll have the same luck???

I have a similar problem with the same model truck. My Ford dealer spent 1 week working on it. They replaced the pass. side hub and axle shaft. When I got it back it was better but it still grinds/vibrates at random intervals and the auto hubs worked for about 3 months. Now the A/C or heat vents seem to shift to the defroster after 10 sec. of being in 4wd. The hubs work when locked manually and the noise goes away. Please let me know if you have any sucess.
