Silver Streak/Hanomag motorhome Annie Martin 2-9-03
I have a Custom motorhome, Silver Streak/Hanomag, assembled in El Monte,California in 1967. Does anyone know anything about these? I heard they only used this particular combination for one year. I need to know what kind of an engine it has in it. I am in need of a water pump and probabley as time goes by, other engine parts and running gear.
Any input would be appreciated.

Thank you,
Annie Martin

Is your engine gasoline or diesel. I barely remember them. The company stopped making coaches somewhere around 1980. But if you describe some of the chassis features I may be able to help you.

Hi Annie Martin,

I'm curious about the Silver Streak/Hanomag. Can you tell me more about what engine it has? Is it diesel? And how is the power of the engine?

Any other problems or concerns with it?

there's one for sale, and I'm intrigued.

Does it look like a silver streak trailer with a cab on the front? They came with diesel engines I believe. I may have some info if you send a picture or discribe it. Sean.

Greetings from a member of the Yahoo Hanomag Mercedes 206D, 306D owner's group.

You did a great job cleaning up the floor. If you did not find a vin plate attached on top of the passenger's side fender well then it has been removed. There is also a chassis number located along the driver's side tube rail up in front of the engine mount. You may have to scrape some paint off to see it.

Have a look at the Yahoo group for some great resources. I drive a Hanomag Mercedes 306D in California. People on the Yahoo group are currently having a look at his thread.

We just bought a Hanomag Diesel Motorhome
It sat for 10 years and was parked in a very hot or cold climate in california without any protection, or care.
We hope to fix this rv up, but will not be able to "restore" her to her originality as she was already gutted not to mention rat infested.Alot of tearing out before fixing up!
The motor turned over once before we hauled it, first time in 10 yrs. But it's looking like that was the last time and we will have to rewire the whole thing.
My partner is one of those kind of people who can do anything even if he has to invent and make the tool to do it with, the one thing he does not have any experience in is diesel motors.
The next of his lessons begins:
I guess my question would be, is there anyone out there with any knowledge or that could direct me to information for the f 35 diesel motor?
I believe it was right around the time mercedes bought the remaining 49 percent of hanomag henchell diamler benz co.

Our Hanomag 1975 D206 camper is in really good shape.
I have sources for parts, engine filters, 220 engine, info, etc. Maybe we can help you.
Re: Silver Streak/Hanomag motorhome Al 7-14-07
Look at "Hanomag parts" on Google. Most listings are for earthmoving machines but truck parts supply is listed.
If you really like this vehicle but are not restoring the chassis to original (since you aren't restoring the SS "house" to original, I suspect this is the case), consider replacing the Hanomag drivetrain with a modern drivetrain readily available in the US. Your parts problems will be greatly reduced and your fuel efficiency will go way up from this antique diesel engine.
Financing the changeover might be helped by selling the replaced drivetrain to someone who is dedicated to a Hanomag using the same drivetrain.
