Gasoline smell in 1989 Tioga | Gary | 2-5-03 |
I just bought a 1989 24' Fleetwood Tioga, with a 460 engine. The engine runs fine, but only gets about 4 mpg at 55-60 mph. When the unit is parked, you can smell gasoline outside, by the driver's door. I can't see any leaks and can't pinpoint the problem. Any ideas?

It possibly has a bad purge valve. When these go bad. Gasoline is then drawn into the purge canister and when you are driving raw gas is dumped into the engine.

Could be vent hose cracked where it connects to gas tank. Fill tank as full as possible and see if any gas runs out. Hose cracked on mine.

I am considering a late model Tioga and was wondering about normal gas mileage. Any input? Thanks! John M. |
