Atwood Electrode 34570 Location william e hofelich 9-10-17
Folks, can you tell me where the electrode is located for an atwood 8531-IV ? Looking at diagrams and videos etc I don't know if i have to remove the whole gas valve, or if it is somewhere else. Cant find any actual pictures showing it in the furnace or how to get to it. Confused=Going to change ignition board as well-Furnace 10 years old.

Hi William, turn off the propane (LP) and thermostat, remove the exhaust tube, disconnect the LP line, disconnect the wires leading to the gas valve and igniter (up underneath), remove three screws around the exhaust port area, there may or may not be one on the outer curved metal, pull out the gas valve/burner/igniter electrode assembly. You'll have to push the LP line out of the way (gently, as to not damage the copper line flared end) Good luck
