Re: RV Black Tank by Keith
Post New Message Hi Pete, this is a very common problem and sometimes cannot be remedied easily. You can try filling the tank with water and a strong solution of tank treatment, drive around to mix the solution and then let it sit a couple of days to possibly disolve the crud that's shorting out the sending units (barrel nuts). Then drive it around again to possibly dislodge the crud. If this doesn't work, if you want to... you can remove the barrel nuts that the wiring is connected to on the tank and replace them with new. These are available at hardware stores. Personally.... I'd just do like most people and set up a draining schedule, like every three to five days, depending on use and let it go at that. Or if you see water coming up the throat of the toilet, drain it. Make sure you use chemicals, and lots of water with a solids flush and NEVER leave the black water valve open while using the system. Good luck
