Re: transmission slips when cold after warm up shifts fine. by Bubba The Bus Tech
Post New Message You have a issue called "Converter Drain Back" Very common issue on this era of North American Built Trucks.

Essentially all the oil from the Torque converter leaks into all its oil into the transmission oil pan. At startup it takes from a few seconds to a couple minutes to to fill and purge the air.

Go easy on it or tear the trans out, replace the pump busing and seal in the front of the transmission. Make sure that you get a minimum spec clearance between the pump bushing and converter nose.

Good Luck
