|Magnetek 6345 converter/charger||Ronald Killgo||6-5-17|
|My motor home is a 1990 Gulf Stream Ultra. It has a Magnetek 6345 converter-charger unit in it. The converter seems to work fine, but the charger does not charge the battery. I can charge the battery with my battery charger unit and it will hold a charge. I can crank the truck and the converter works fine on elec. All indications are that there is nothing wrong with the converter, but the charger is bad. Is there a way to replace only the charger? I have been told it is all made together in one unit. I am in the process of removing the whole unit and cleaning all connections because I know on a car battery if the connection is bad sometimes the battery won't charge. Is there anything else I can check before I make the decision to buy another unit?|

|It sounds like your charge board is dead. |
It is a small circuit board inside the "Box" of the converter.
The parts are getting hard to find, our parts guy laughed at me when I asked about a supplier so Good Luck
|I have a work-around to the charging problem. It is a small maintenance charger to keep the battery charged. However, I have another question: Is the cooling fan in the converter unit suppose run constantly or only when it reaches a certain temperature? I have a work around for that too. It is a small personal fan blowing into the converter to keep it cool.|
